Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with GarageBand on your MacBook Air, and issues with the app freezing since upgrading to macOS Mojave. I am happy to help.
Since it's happening with saved projects as well as new projects, I recommend first trying the troubleshooting in this help article: macOS Sierra: If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly - Apple Support
I know the article title says for macOS Sierra, but the steps are the same in macOS Mojave. The article above also has steps to check if the issue also occurs in safe mode. Safe mode will tell us if the issue is related to a startup item or plugins, and sometimes is all that is necessary to correct some problems.
When you boot to safe mode, log in to your account and check if the issue is also occurring in safe mode or not. Please be aware, third party items are disabled in safe mode, which means some things may not work as expected, such as the speakers. This means, will not be able to play the project, but should be able to test if it saves or not, and is still freezing. Use this article for the steps to get into safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
If everything is working properly in safe mode, but then is not working after you restart the Mac, please check the section titled 'If an issue doesn't happen in safe mode' for the next troubleshooting steps.
If the issue is also occurring in safe mode, move on and test if this problem occurs in a newly created unmodified test administrator user account on your Mac. A test user will let us know if the issue is isolated to your account, or system wide. Please check this help article: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support
After you are done testing, please check the section related to results, titled 'If the issue happens in the other account' or 'If the issue doesn't happen in the other account”.
If you still need help, please let us know if the issue worked properly in safe mode or the test user when you write us back. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
This video is a temporary fix until Hikvision release a new firmware to allow the DVRs and NVRs to work natively without the need for a NPAPI plugin. The plugin still works with macOS High Sierra, but I found a newer version that works with more cameras, including the FI9851P V3 which I recently purchased. UPDATE for Safari 12 and macOS Mojave. Foscam has published a new, different kind of plugin that works with Safari 12 and macOS Mojave.
Mac OS X To take advantage of the newest Java VM available (1.5.0 as of this writing) and to avoid some bugs of the outdated Java 1.3.1 plugin, you have to install Java Embedding Plugin for Mac OS X (Bug 274312) Installing Address Book Palm Sync on Windows. 5.3.3 does have a new plugin but 5.3.0 does not. IMHO, I think Hikvision is getting 'All their ducks in a row' as they say. With firmware 5.3.3 to get on the road to encrypting their firmware releases in the near future vs. Leaving their firmware unencrypted as it is now. Making it much more complicated to play with, than it is now. I know it's terrible and annoying to get this message over and over again when trying to use your Hikvision DVR, believe me I've been there and I know exactly the way it feels like, but you just need to work on two simple configuration to solve this problem, So, let's jump into this now.

Many users want to view their Hikvision cameras or access the DVR/NVR using Mozilla Firefox. What plugin to install on Firefox? How to see a Hikvision camera or NVR using Firefox? The new version of Mozilla Firefox doesn’t allow the installation of ActiveX plugins anymore, so you can’t see the cameras using this browser. However there are a few tricks you need to do in order to fix this issue.

In this step-by-step guide we will show how to access a Hikvision device (IP camera, NVR, DVR) using Mozilla Firefox browser. You’ll be able to see the live feed, playback, modify the settings, etc. Read the instructions below. If you use Google Chrome, check the guide in this link.

How to access a Hikvision device on Firefox?
The current version of Firefox does not support the ActiveX plugin. Which, in return, the camera feeds will not play if you try bringing them up.
In order to view the Hikvision cameras or NVR/DVR using Firefox, you need to install the Firefox ESR version. ESR stands for “Extended Support Release”, which means that even though a newer version of Firefox may be out, the ESR version will still support the plugins for an extended period of time. In other words, the ActiveX plugin is supported by Firefox ESR.
Step 1. Download and install the Firefox ESR version. Note: This will overwrite your existing version of FireFox if you had it installed previously. However it will keep all of your Configurations, Favorites and Settings.
- Click here to download the Windows version of Firefox ESR.
- Click here to download the Mac version of Firefox ESR.
Open the file once downloaded and follow the Setup Wizard that comes up when you open the file. Once the setup is complete, click “Finish”. The program will then run automatically.

Step 2. Type your NVR’s IP address into the address bar. For our example, since we are connected to the same network, we will use our NVR’s local IP address: http://192.168.1.100:82 (where 82 is the http port, by default it’s 80).
Step 3. Install the ActiveX plugin when prompted.
Step 4. Re-enter the username and password. Check if you can see the live view.
